Statements

Sometimes we just have those days where we want to scream "F$ck the world!" And like always in life we then have two options, an easy and one a bit harder one. And like always the harder one is the more rewarding. Karma seriously is a B§tch. So either hide in your room, mope and stare at your laptop or get out there and do something! Fashion being the apparently only nice god out there, has given us a new gift to adulate: statement hats. They basically project what our head is thinking to the outside. These hats are availible with everything from a smiley face to colorful swear words and tend to provoke and offend. Lets face it: that's what we want when we are being cranky. We want people to be shocked, mothers to glare at us for teaching their child a new word and snobby salespeople to look down with that 'Ithinkyourinthewrongstore' look. When everyone else is pissed off by us, we feel better. It's not misanthropic, it's life. So if you are having one of those days, buy a hat. Trust me it helps and if you then pair it with a supercool outfit you'll already feel so much better. Extra bonus: You don't even have to wash your hair because no one will see! Win, win situation! You mope and make everyone miserable! Aren't I a wonderful replica of grumpy cat? Try it before judging

Heartbreak

Nothing hurts more than heartbreak. Actual heartbreak can't be pushed away by denial. And if we are honest no amount of ice-cream or chocolate can cure it. It will just lead to us not fitting into our clothes. Every person has a different way of dealing with heartbreak. Some don't have a way yet, because they have never experienced that pain yet. Those lucky ones... Or are they?

It was, ironically I might say, no other than Ke$ha who got through to me the other day. Something she said stuck in my head like gum to our favorite new shoes. "It is so hard to write a song when you're not madly in love with someone or heartbroken." She was actually upset about not being heartbroken! At that time I was about to hurl my coffee cup at the screen, when I realised she was right. I wrote best when I was in pain. Maybe we need pain. Maybe pain brings out the good in us. However controversial that sounds think about it; we run fastest when angry or sad, some metaphor for running away from our troubles. We box hardest when we are imagining the face of someone in place of the boxing sack. We look our best because we work out, dress consciously and put on make-up in case we run into that someone. We write the best songs, poems or books in pain. We draw or help others to distract ourselves. Now not all those things apply to all of us, but some of those . We all deal with pain differently and I have now discovered my way.

It is made up of three stages:

1. I admit I am actually heartbroken and console myself with friends, Sex and the city, shopping and of course fashion lectures

2. I become someone else. Doesn't everyone sometimes wish to just be someone else? Become a different person? Well who says you can't? You set your own limits. I'm serious, what do you think wigs and clothes and make-up and colored contacts were made for? To help us become the person we want to be. What I do is, I think of a charcacter, their name, personality, history, work and details. Then I pick out all the clothes from my wardrobe which that person would wear and hang them on a rack. I gather matching jewlery, handbags, accessories and shoes. And then I become that person. I do what that person would like doing. I introduce myself as that person (of course only to people I don't know) and you would be suprised how much better you feel after. You got a break from yourself and got to be someone else, because in reality no vacation can do that. They can bring you away from your home and friends, but not yourself.

3. I get over it. It's simple but far from easy. It's painful and awful, but life goes on. And at some point, after the millionth sad song, looking at pictures for the umteenth time and another date with some guy, you realise you are okay

And that's life. Without pain we don't grow or learn and to put it in simple words, IT SUCKS. But in the end we become a person. After all the jabs and punches and changes we had to endure, we realise what we want, need and have a chance at getting. That person then is who we are and that person never stops changing and growing. So what I guess I'm trying to say that fashion is and has always been a huge part of me and now I know how it can help me through pain as well and I hope that you by reading this may realise you feel similar about some of my points too.

Red lips

Luscious
lovely
lifting
lifelong
lucid

What am I talking of? Red lips of course. Nothing is sexier and more sensual than red lips. They demand attention focus eyes on your face, make you seem more intriguing. They can make up your make-up and make you seem styled even if you're not wearing any other make up. They are sultry and gorgeous.

The only annoying thing is that you constanly have to carry your lisptick around, as as soon as you drink or eat something it will look splotchy and gross. Then again what are Douglas testers there for? Even better I have decided is dark red. It gives it that extra vamp kick and makes you even more mysterious. Also if you don't have naturally full lips you can just fake a bit if you apply a bit over and outline them with a contouring pencil. Just make sure you do it neat. Also always carry around your hand-mirror, to check there's nothing on your teeth. Then again by the amount of selfies we are taking today we would notice soon anyway. Atough just remeber to delete that selfie ;)

Blue unity

Blue. Blue is the color of the sky, ocean, the most popular eye color. Pale blue so sophisticated, dark blue is elegant, but most strinking is cobalt blue. It's one of those colors which suits everyone. Dark hair., ginger, blonde or balck. If you're pale, tan or dark skinned. Wether you're full figured or slender. You might be thinking how is that such a big deal? Well, think about it. How rare is it that a color looks good on all, especially such a bold one. How often is there fashion equality?

I mean fashion is obviously a superficial world and I have been all about how to express yourself through colors and clothes. Sadly I have come to realize that today we criticize ourselves too strongly. We say only tan people can wear shorts and the color white. You have to be skinny for jeggins and short for heels So I can't wear heels because I'm tall? Wear my favortie color in winter when I'm pale? Why do we still judge so strongly? It's 21st century after all.  Designers make shoes only in certain sizes, tops and dresses with specific cuts. How often is it really that something is designed that every woman can wear? Converse come to mind and sweaters... but otherwise?

The answer is cobalt blue. It's a color to embrace and I think everyone of us should own a piece in that color. Because it is a piece of equality and can therefore symbolize unity. It is a chance at peace in the fashion world, something not even the bitchiest can insult. I love it. It's so peaceful, so striking and no one can really hate it. Blue- freedom

We will always be here

While time seems to be going by at snail speed at the moment the only thing getting me happy are the new winter/fall collections. But I have to admit it's very hard for me saying goodbye to my summer clothes. Those pastel colored pants, wedges and sandals, shorts, hippie dresses and wide cut tank-tops. All the dark colors and rain are basically asking for depressions. Autumn depressions setting in, call the fashion police. The person who said "Yes now I can finally wear 90% of my wardobe again" What is wrong with you?! Who has more sweaters than shorts and tank tops?

I hate long pants, I love feeling the wind around my legs, even if it does mean constantly having to shave them. The freeness of summer being able to wear whatever and not needing a jeacket on top. You can't even see necklaces or bracelets underneath these thick jackets and hoodies. Bright make up looks out of place on the pale skin and my hair is hanging listless because there is no humidity to make it fuffy and wavy. But now sadness won't get you further in life, sadly. And while lately all I've wanted to do is close my eyes and hide in my bed, blanket pulled over my head with my laptop and movies, I know I can't do that. Life goes on and even when everything seems too much we have to go on.

Lately I have even been so sick of everything, I commited the greatest fashion crime of all, I spent all week wearing jogging pants or pyjamas. I know. It was bad. My friends were looking at me with eyes saying "Oh god, what up?" Life's up, but I'm down. While they're comfy, I had to admit they don't really make you feel better. Avoiding the mirrors because you look that bad... yeah, not a good feeling. Seeing your reflection in cars, windows and glass doors and thinking "Who is that person?" Having people look at you and know it's not envy, or compliments going through their mind. So I finally pulled myself up and starting dressing normally again. Well, normal for me anyways and I it did the trick. My confidence, walk and attitude was back. It's not arrogance but the knowledge that haters going to hate and there's always going to be haters but that I'm over them. I feel myself when I'm wearing bright colors, or extravagent pants, Doc Martens and heels, Smoky eyes and red lips. When I feel heads turning because I look like something misplaced to be walking her dog on the street. But that's life and I won't be forgotten. I won't let myself be forgotten, I'm not going to forget myself and my clothes are the things which can bring me back. Make me see who I can be, if I let myself. That's the hardets thing when seasons change, a new time starts and you're lost somewhere in between adn decisions have to be made and it's all too much. You need that one thing that keeps you grounded, reminds you who you are, brings memories and strength back, makes you feel confident and ready to face the world. Fashion is that for me and probably also for you if you're reading this. So always remeber we fashionistas will hold together no matter what adn there's always something and someone to keep you looking forward.

My new thing

There are two types of new year, the calendar new year in January and the so-called fashion new year. The fashion new year starts in autumn, the time we start a new school year or new year studying and i's when all the shops get the new years collection Fall/Winter 2014 in this years case and then there will be Spring/Summer 2014. So for every new season, along come new trends and we shop but really in autumn is the time I personally choose a completely new style  which tends to carry on until at least well into spring. This year I decided to go for college look and was delighted to see I'm even in trend with this idea. It started when I found one of my Dad's Jackets. I'm starting to think I've got some kind of father-attachment syndrom or whatever, because I have seriously gotten into wearing his clothes, let's hope I'm not turning tomboy like in my 12 year old me phase (bad memories, I avoid those pictures). Anyway my Dad's clothes are so cool, chilled oversize and somehow vintage looking, which creates a sexy aura of effortlessness, (although in all honesty I spent forever checking which hotpants match color with his sweaters;)). His jeans shirts, sweaters and this jacket. It's a college jacket and huge and matched with hotpants sneakers and a tank top looks totally cool. I was even asked where I bought it and I joked in the vintage section of My dad's closet, they didn't quite get the joke...

Anyway the new college trend with plaited skirts, sweaters, army green and boots is compeltely my thing as it's comfortable, simple, can be very edgy and one of the few things I haven't tried yet. So I was off today and bought a bright yellow high waist skirt to match with a college jacket and sneakers. I love the hwole, Bad school girl image (talking boots and skirts here, no wrong ideas please) and love how you can team all your clothes to form your own unique style. Basically a trend everyone can do. Skinny or full-figured, tall or short, no breasts large sized, anyone really. From punk to goody-goody two shoes, leather to cashmere, flats to heels and oversize to tight.

The trend can lead you to remembering your good old school days, make school a bit brighter or give you the chance to show the world today the person you afraid to be in school. This is a new fashion year full of new fashion trends, ideas and chances.

Cote de wonderful

Cannes is one of those cities you instantly fall in love as a fashion addict, so it was really a crime that I had never been until now. Back from wonderful France now I'm wearing all my new clothes and can't help but brag everytime someone compliments on how cheap it was. That's another thing, while strolling down the Croisette you can purchase the most expensive designer clothes you can also head into the heart of the city and make bargains the price of a baguette. In France of course you willl see al the tourists run aroudn in the cheap items but once home, people will compliment on your extravagent outfits and you can breezily say,  "Oh it's from France." I really couldn't believe it when I bought my new sandals for $9 and had to check twice the currency was correct and that the full stop was in the right place, but no the price was right. Very right indeed. Although at times I had to admit I had to pinch my nose because things did smell pretty cheap in the masses they had, once out on the street the shoes and dresses looked gorgeous. So I was taught yet again, while some things may look worse on second glance, things from Cannes rarely do.

new hippie shorts
=> feeling the festival spirit
Another thing I'm so grateful for is the french love for underwear. I have never seen such fine underwear to such low prices. Color, lace and silk all for minimal prices. The variety delighted me and I spent forever digging myself through all of the different designeres, from Agent Provocateur to Princess Tam Tam.

While London and New York are beautiful, the only thing they can't offer is a coffee and Macaroon at the ocean after a strenous day of power shopping. I have yet again discovered that the price does not reflect beauty and while it does affect the quality here you just shop new every season and you don't even have to feel bad because it's so cheap. So if you decide to become a one season only person visit Cannes and you will never have to or in some cases be able to wear the same things twice. You can make anything work and the long walks at the beach with your new french lover will even burn off all the wonderful cake, ones got to try :)
