sweetest thing

Until now I've walked through life, thinking people don't really realize what I do and wear that much. That they might find it weird, or trash and laugh about my clothes. So yesterday I had the sweetest experience. I sat down at a party with a boy I had gone to school with and he, he did have a little alcohol to losen his mouth, blurted out how he thought I was so great and how he had been afraid to talk to me all this time. How he loved what I wore and walked with such positive confidence. I was honestly so suprised! And even more baffled when he suddenly started describing one of my favorite Outfits, telling me how he especially loved that one! I couldn't believe people actually watched me that closesly and liked what I was wearing. Especially guys!

we all have our fashion fails
you are beautiful when you are happy
Apart from the fact that I yet again experienced how ridiculously insecure boys can be and had a wonderful Ego kick, I actually learned something really important : People are NOT what they seem. At least most of the time. I mean this boy and his friends had at times been horrible to me, laughing behind my back, making me feel very uncomfortable. The girls to would make snippy remarks about me looking slutty or being a "wannabe" and in real life it had been admiration and jealousy. Why do people do that? Make other people feel bad, or be to weak to admit they were simply jealous? I don't know why. I don't unterstand why so much hatred and bashing is encouraged in magazines, why we are constantly made to feel bad about ourselves. All I know is that to keep doing what you're doing and that all that hate may just be jealousy or misplaced anger. Don't ever be discouraged of your fashion ideale, we all have our fashions sins and fails, but hat's what life's about! Who knows maybe one day a sweet thing will open your eyes too, although I hope you won't need one to actually have to

P.S. little encouraging statistic I found ;)

"1. At least 5 people in this world love you so much they would die for you.

2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.

3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you.

4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.

5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep."

we are all unique

Suppression

I recently came across a few das from the middle east and was seriously shocked. I couldn't believe how extreme they were! Body parts were censored, covered and photshopped. It was almost like entire parts of women were deleted. But on second hand I paused to think, isn't it a good idea to not focus on the outer aspects of a person? To actually care about their beliefs, dreams and characteristics?  Why is everything always about the outer circumstances and don't really the sexist das supress women more? Marginalizing them to their sex? I came to the conclusion that  both extremes of hiding and hsowing skin is suppression. We should be allowed to choose what to wear and not made to feel ashamed or embrassed. We should embrace what we have and by Dressing and changing our body we can come closer to our own personal ideals.

Through the ads I also realized how many ways their are of expressing yourself, your sexuality. Your eyes are seen as extremely powerful, your walk, which I always envy the african and brazilians for... They walk with so much energy and hip sway, so much spirit. Also through our voice, tone and gestures. There are so many little things and every time I come across a new way to express myself, I feel more color, tone and feeling is added to our world. The little ways other people give away parts of their personality, it's amazing once you see it. Take a look, you'll be suprised

Today

It should be prescribed for people to go to concerts once a month
No words needed...
Live today.. sounds corny but it's so true. You can make every day your best. Honestly I just again realized how you can change who you are every day and it's so wonderful. I mean think about it; you are one person on a planet and really no one is going to give if you go crazy. Get a new haircut, spend more money than you should on a gorgeous dress, get drunk and dance your feet sore, fall in love, eat ice-cream at midnight, change your look... There are so many possibilities to have fun, so what are we even afraid of? I just decided to change my eye color and have since been running around with colored contacts which are pretty danm awesome! Everyone is commenting them, even at night in the dark "Whoa you have gorgeous eyes!" And here's the ironic thing people keep coming up to me saying, "Wow I never realized your eyes are so blue." Sure those aren't my closest friends, but it just shows how no one really pays that close attention. Which means we have all the freedom to look like we want! I just feel that being the same person gets to be so boring and I don't want to end with a closet full of boring, concealing and "appropriate" clothes, selling my heels on ebay and prada, MiuMiu and Pepe to vintage stores because I'm afraid my kids will spill stuff on the clothes.

Never going to dress the norm
While there are things which look unappropriate you should never dress antagonistic towards your gut feeling. You are the only person who can change the way you feel. You can't rely on others to make you feel beautiful, happy or different. Do it yourself! It's not that hard. It's all a matter of attitude and clothes. Live brighter even if the winters coming. Don't forget who you are, the real you would be missed

Imperfection

That fear of perfection, is a fear that if you let it in, will take you over. It's got a hold of me again and I'm scared. "What if it's not enough? What if I'm not enough?". Fear. It comes with living, breathing, stepping outside in the morning. It's omnipresent, there to remind us, just how precious life is; Just how far away our dreams can be. Fashion is so wonderful because it takes perfection and let's us forget it. Designers are franctically trying to get everything perfect. Make sure all the models look great, walk great, music is great. That every stitch is where it's suppossed to be, and all the dresses are hanging straight. We, the consumers, then get to take these amazing, brilliantly concocted pieces to form a larger piece, looking like something else. Even when we look like a mess, there is perfection behind everything we are wearing.

Isn't it ironic? How we can strive all our lives to be perfect and never succeed, then we pull on something and suddenly we have a piece of perfection. Fashion, I cannot stress it enough, can change us. It uses everything known to man, music, art, language, culture, politics... and combines it all. No thing will be worn the exact same way and because of that we are all unique and in one way perfect

Masks

Back in the old days, people high in society would often host masked balls. While I am generally in love with balls, the elgance, beauty and mystery, I am even more in love with the idea of masked balls. Imagine being able to dance without anyone knowing who you are. To waltz and shimmy over the marble floor; have people look after you and wonder in awe "Who is that?" Mystery, I think we all strive for it in some way. The suprise of unwrapping a present; opening a new book wondering what stories it will hold; watching movies and following series, capitivated with the storyline of what will happen to our hereos; walking into a store searching for a something without knowing what. The unknown is so much more interesting than the obvious.

While it might be a bit over the top to run around town with a mask, although days with massive eye shadows and pimpeles have tempted me, you can create a different type of mask. I'm talking about the glory of make up. By applying make up we are given the chance to completely change the way our faces look. We can enlarge our eyes and lips,  fabricate gorgeous cheekbones, highlight features and conceal flaws. The possibilities are endless. A recent trend I have come to love is the idea of twiggy/asian eyes. I think they make everyone gaze into your eyes and take attention away from, in my case my chubby cheeks, our less loved features. After a lot of practice I am finally also able to draw lines on more or less straight and create that little curve in the end. I personally think these eyes look best with floral patterns, the contrast of a innocent open outfit with a mysterious and dramatic make up.

Happy Monday

It's really a funny thing how we can wake up on Mondays ready to kill ourselves because we have to work. How entire sites shirts and slogans have been dedicated to "I hate Monday" but when you don't have to work Monday is the best day. And u can get up at 6 out of bed, in your pjamas; to walk the dog and to all those work people coming home giving u the look be like "hahaha f$ck you! I got to sleep in". On this note I wish you all a happy monday and remeber even today will pass :) Look at the bright side and focus on the wonderful things in your closet, wearing something awesome always makes the day a little brighter

Statements

Sometimes we just have those days where we want to scream "F$ck the world!" And like always in life we then have two options, an easy and one a bit harder one. And like always the harder one is the more rewarding. Karma seriously is a B§tch. So either hide in your room, mope and stare at your laptop or get out there and do something! Fashion being the apparently only nice god out there, has given us a new gift to adulate: statement hats. They basically project what our head is thinking to the outside. These hats are availible with everything from a smiley face to colorful swear words and tend to provoke and offend. Lets face it: that's what we want when we are being cranky. We want people to be shocked, mothers to glare at us for teaching their child a new word and snobby salespeople to look down with that 'Ithinkyourinthewrongstore' look. When everyone else is pissed off by us, we feel better. It's not misanthropic, it's life. So if you are having one of those days, buy a hat. Trust me it helps and if you then pair it with a supercool outfit you'll already feel so much better. Extra bonus: You don't even have to wash your hair because no one will see! Win, win situation! You mope and make everyone miserable! Aren't I a wonderful replica of grumpy cat? Try it before judging
